Ibiza - nightclub heaven

One of the Balearic Isles in the Mediterranean, and part of Catalonia, though now belonging to Spain, Ibiza is world famous for its nightlife and clubbing. Many world class DJ’s, such as Roger Sanchez and Judge Jules, regularly come to Ibiza’s fantastic clubs, which offer techno, hardcore, hip-hop, and other genres of fine electronic music. Now even some of the clubs do rock and r’n'b, and hot bands, such as the Kaiser Chiefs and the Kooks, do gigs here too. Clubbers come to the island from all across Europe and beyond, as do a number of celebrities, to enjoy parties such as the famous weekly Manumission.
The first club to open was Pacha back in 1973, and other outstanding clubs have sprung up since. Privilege, thought to be the worlds biggest club, has a stunning interior that includes gardens and a pool. Amnesia is open air, which makes for a great way to enjoy those hot Mediterranean nights.
The town of San Antonio, on the western side of the island, has great pubs, bars and nightlife, and here also is the club Es Paradis, famous for its water parties, and the new club Eden, right on the waterfront. At the height of summer San Antonio is really kicking with young holidaymakers looking for a good time. Out on San Antonio Bay it is a little quieter, but you have San Antonio itself only about 20-30 minutes walk away.
Playa d’en Bossa, with its more affordable accommodation, is now challenging San Antonio as Ibiza’s top spot – it is the location of Space, which has five different music areas, and throughout the summer has dance parties on the beach.
There are lots of cheap packages to Ibiza, and you can get a good deal, but remember to check out the accommodation online before you book, (see Know Before You Go), to get an idea of what you are headed for. If you want a really good deal, try booking outside the peak season, when demand is lower – not only are there some good deals available at this time of year, but also you will miss the searing heat of the height of the summer.
If you are into clubbing and dance music, your life will not be complete without a trip to Ibiza.
